New sales representative Tai plans to reinstate the exemptions on some tariffs
WASHINGTON – The US administration led by President Joe Biden is ready to resume negotiations with Beijing as part of its long-awaited strategy to manage trade with China.
US Trade Representative Katherine Tai is expected to speak on the phone with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He in the coming days, urging China to abide by the “phase one” trade agreement signed with Washington under former President Donald Trump.
The US also plans to reinstate partial exemptions on punitive tariffs to help curb the impact of trade tensions on its domestic industry.
