The Bears are in full swing of Matthew Stafford’s lotteries, according to NFL insider Albert Breer.
In a Periscope on Saturday, Breer reported that the Bears are one of seven teams “usually involved” in business talks for the longtime Lions quarterback, adding that interest in Stafford has been strong over the past week.
The Washington football team, Panthers, Patriots, Colts, 49ers, and Rams are the other teams involved, according to Breer. He added that he thinks Stafford would like to go to California, but “isn’t sure” whether the 32-year-old will end up with the 49ers or the Rams.
“I think where he would rather go may not be the best offer Lions received for him,” Breer said.
According to Breer, Detroit talked about exchanges for their quarterback at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. this week and would like to transfer it before the Super Bowl. The return could be a first-round pick or a first-round pick and more, Breer said.
Stafford, Detroit’s number 1 overall pick in 2009, and the Lions have agreed to part ways this offseason after 11 seasons together. He is under contract for two more seasons, with cap hits of $ 20 million in 2021 and $ 23 million in 2022.
