The 45th president sent a personal video message to Ashli ​​Babbitt’s family. The video was played Sunday at a “Texas loves Ashli ​​Babbitt” gathering, where family members and supporters gathered to commemorate and honor Babbitt’s 36th birthday.

During the video, Donald Trump talked about Babbitt’s career in the Air Force.

“Ashli ​​served our country in the United States Air Force for 14 years, where she was a security force aviator and eventually reached the rank of senior aviator,” he explained. “He defended our nation abroad, including in Iraq to fight in the War on Terror.”

The 36-year-old was killed by a Capitol police officer during the January 6 protests. In August, Lieutenant Michael Byrd was cleared of all charges for his death.

Trump expressed his deepest feelings to the Babbitt family and called on the Justice Department to reopen the investigation into his death. She claimed there was no reason for her to have lost her life that day.

“We must all demand justice for Ashli ​​and her family,” Trump said. “So on this solemn occasion, as we celebrate her life, we renew our call for a fair and impartial investigation into Ashli ​​Babbitt’s death.
