Popular human rights activist and lawyer Bemigho Reno Omokri challenged President Muhammadu Buhari and his corulers to go ahead and punish some prominent Nigerian clergymen for violating the Twitter ban.
President Muhammadu Buhari announced on Friday 4 May 2021, through his Information Minister, that the use of Twitter was suspended indefinitely in Nigeria.
The Federation Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, also threatened to legally prosecute anyone found using the platform since the ban was placed.
However, some Nigerian priests, including four prominent among them, took to Twitter to explain why they need to tweet.
“The redeemed Christian Church of God is domiciled in more than 170 nations and territories. The tweets here comply with Article 19 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ”Pastor Adeboye wrote.
Following their tweets, Reno Omokri, a strong opponent of the Buhari-led administration, challenged Malami to do his worst by pursuing those priests.
Pastor Adeboye tweeted, Pastor Kumuyi tweeted, Bisho Oyedepo tweeted, Apostle Suleman tweeted.
Let’s wait for Malami to arrest them. He will know the difference between the pastor of Aso Rock and those of Christ the Solid Rock.
