The Zimbabwean women made it to the semifinals of the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup qualifier after beating the women of Tanzania by 171 points.
After winning the draw and choosing to bat, it was Josephine Nkomo who led with the bat, scoring 56 unbeaten with only 32 balls. Modester Mupachikwa intervened with 38 before he retired. She and Ashley Ndiraya (31) had teamed up for an opening partnership of 36, also aided by the copious amount of, particularly large, extras granted by Mozambique.
Eventually, Zimbabwe recorded 205 for the loss of three wickets. Cheidza Dhururu (23) and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano (19) also lent with the bat.
Cristina Magaia with two out of 29 from her four overs was the main bowler.
Precious Marange led with the ball as he returned four-for-eight figures from four overs, while Mozambique was eliminated for 41.
The lone forerunner, Palmira Cuinica with 20 was able to finish in double digits as Zimbabwe showed its dominance.
Loreen Tshuma returned three of six from four overs and Loryn Phiri continued her streak with the ball taking two wickets in 1.1 overs, conceding two points.
Zimbabwe now take a day off before finishing the group against Rwanda.
