Marilyn Manson Denies Evan Rachel Woods Abuse Allegations – – Tell It Like It News

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Rocker Marilyn Manson was dropped from her record label on Monday after actor Evan Rachel Wood accused her ex-boyfriend of sexual and other physical abuse, claiming she was “manipulated into submission” during their relationship.

Manson called the allegations “horrific distortions of reality”.

Wood, who stars in HBO’s “Westworld,” had talked a lot in recent years about abuse in a relationship, but didn’t name the person until he posted on Instagram Monday.

“My attacker’s name is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson,” Wood said. “He started cleaning me when I was a teenager and abused me horribly for years.”

Manson’s label, Loma Vista Recordings, said in a statement that after the “disturbing allegations”, “it will cease further promoting its current album” and has “also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects”.

Wood and Manson’s relationship went public in 2007, when he was 38 and she was 19, and they got engaged briefly in 2010 before breaking up.

Wood, now 33, said in her post that Manson left her “brainwashed and manipulated into submission.”

“I stopped living in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call into question the numerous industries that have allowed him to do so, before he ruins other lives, “the post added.

He concluded: “I am with the many victims who will no longer be silent”.

Manson responded with his Instagram post Monday night.

“Obviously my art and my life have long been controversy magnets, but these recent claims about me are horrific distortions of reality,” her post said. “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others now choose to misrepresent the past, this is the truth ”.

It was not immediately clear whether Wood had gone to the authorities with any of her allegations, and a rep did not immediately respond when asked via email if she did.

In 2018, Los Angeles County prosecutors refused to file a complaint against Manson on charges of assault, beatings and sexual assaults dating back to 2011, saying they were limited by statutes of limitation and lack of confirmation. The accuser in that case was identified only as a social acquaintance of Manson.

At the time he had denied the allegations through his lawyer.

In 2017, Wood was one of thousands of women who identified themselves as victims of sexual harassment or assault in the #MeToo movement.

“Being raped once made it easier to be raped again. I instinctively shut down. My body remembered, so it protected me. I disappeared. #metoo, ”Wood wrote at the time as part of a series of tweets about his experience.

In 2018, he testified of his abuse to a judicial subcommittee of the House as he sought to pass a Charter of Sexual Assault Survivors’ Rights in all 50 states.

“My experience with domestic violence has been this: toxic mental, physical and sexual abuse that started slowly but escalated over time,” she told the committee.

Wood began acting as a child, earning fame and a Golden Globe nomination for playing a troubled teenager in 2003’s “Thirteen.”

For three seasons she played Dolores Abernathy, a sentient android, on HBO’s “Westworld” and was nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy Award for the role.

Manson, 52, became a household name in the mid-90s with a string of hit rock albums and used a theatrical character designed to shock and fuel controversy.

The Associated Press does not normally name people who claim to have been victims of sexual assault, but names Wood because of his decision to speak out publicly.
