All lanes have been closed in both directions, according to Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). Emergency services are on site near junction 23. TfGM has confirmed there are delays of approximately 30 minutes.
TfGM stated: “M60 J23 (Ashton) both directions – All lanes closed.
“This is due to an ongoing police incident.
“Delays are expected, plan your trip before you leave.”
Highways England tweeted: “# M60 clockwise at # J23 (#AshtonUnderLyne # A635) is closed within the interchange.
“All traffic is interrupted via the exit block, to re-enter via the entrance block due to a police incident.
“Traffic officers, @NWmwaypolice, @NWAmbulance are coming to the area to provide assistance.”
They added: “There are 30 minute delays in approaching this # M60 accident (beyond normal travel times) extending 2.1 miles to J22.
“Average speeds approaching the J23 are 16 mph.
“Traffic is advised to follow the empty circular route to rejoin the M60 at J23 or J24.
MancTraffic’s Twitter account said the air ambulance was also on site,
They tweeted: “M60 inside j23 CLOSED in both directions.
“Police and air ambulance on site.
“Congestion on A635 Manchester Rd with 1 lane closed w / b over the motorway.
“Queue c / w to j21 and ac / w to j24.”
