The crisis that rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state took another dimension on Saturday when two party factions held parallel congresses.
The DAILY POST reports that the party’s local government congresses were held across the country on Saturday.
However, it was noted that two party factions held parallel congresses in parts of Ibadan, the state capital.
Parallel APC conventions were held in the Ibadan North Local Government Area.
Our correspondent learned that one faction of the party held its congress in Oke Apon in the Yemetu area while another faction held its congress at Emmanuel College in the Samonda area of Ibadan.
The Oke Apon congress was overseen by a national party official from the state, while the one held at Emmanuel College was overseen by a member of the House of Representatives, according to DAILY POST.
At the end of the Oke Apon congress, Tirimisiyu Saka was elected president of the PCA for local government.
A further 26 executive members of the party were also elected in the local government area.
The names of the winners of the Emmanuel College congress were not disclosed at the time of this report.
The party’s public relations officer in the state, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olatunde confirmed the development at DAILY POST.
Olatunde in a telephone conversation with DAILY POST noted that the problem is a family affair.
He argued that the crisis would soon be resolved.
Olatunde, who spoke to DAILY POST on Saturday evening, said: “There is no other reaction than to say that I am aware of it. Yes. I am aware.
“It will resolve itself internally. It is not for the public issue.
“We want everyone to express what they have in mind. At the right moment it will be resolved ”.
