DW: Germany warns Russia about cyber attacks ahead of the elections
Berlin claimed to have “reliable information” that a series of attempts to obtain the personal details of lawmakers may be linked to the Russian-linked Ghostwriter hacker group.
On Monday, Germany accused Russia of a recent wave of cyberattacks against German politicians. “The federal government strongly urges the Russian government to stop these unacceptable IT activities with immediate effect,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Andrea Sasse told Berlin.
Sasse added that a ministry official made the same request directly to a representative of the Russian foreign ministry last week.
