Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder were at the peak of their careers as they weighed in for their third bout for the WBC heavyweight title in Las Vegas this weekend.
WBC champion Fury tipped the scales at 19 7 pounds (277 pounds), five pounds more than his rematch win last February, while Wilder came in at 238 pounds, seven pounds more since his loss in the seventh round.
The bitter rivals were kept apart all week and again denied a pre-fight confrontation, but Fury provided a fiery pre-fight warning to the American ahead of their trilogy clash in Las Vegas.
When asked about the extra weight, Fury said: “It means the total cancellation of a dosser.
“Total annihilation. This is what it means to me. “
Wilder insisted that the extra pounds would help him cope with the physical challenge posed by Fury’s higher dimensions.
“The weight just came in,” Wilder said.
“I’m stretching the bench just over 350[lbs], so whatever its weight, I can lie on my back and lift it.
“It’s not going to be any of this to rush me and put all its weight on me, and all that. But above all we just want to have fun. “
Wilder has been embroiled in a protracted feud with the British star, but has admitted he needs to regain his composure when the first bell rings at the T-Mobile Arena.
“Calm is the key to the storm,” Wilder said.
“I know that when I’m not calm, my mind is clouded, so when your mind is clouded it allows you to make bad decisions.
“But when you are calm, resist the storm. When you are calm, you are able to see certain things and you are able to decide, make big decisions. I’m trying to be calm in this fight so I can make the big decision so I can show people what I am.
“We rejuvenated, we reinvented ourselves. Redemption is upon us and I can’t wait to show the world what I am.
“I’m reintroducing myself to the world as Deontay Wilder.”
