As Mike Armstrong reports, the outage came after an informant raised red flags about the company putting profits on safety.

Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are back online Monday night after experiencing global outages throughout the day.
Website service appears to have resumed for some users around 6pm EDT. The unexpected outages left many people around the world unable to communicate on the platforms for more than six hours.
According to the DownDetector website, users started reporting outage issues around 11:20 am EDT.
“Downdetector” is actually an online platform that provides users with real-time status information (for example: offline or online) of various websites and services.
Facebook Company explained the reasons in an update late Monday night stating that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between the company’s data centers were the cause of the outage. The changes disrupted communication between data centers, which sadly blocked online services.
Facebook also said: “We don’t even have evidence that user data has been compromised due to this downtime.”
Shares of Facebook were down 4.9% on Monday to $ 326.23.
