Death of Daunte Wright: photos of the protests in Minnesota

The traffic blockade that would have ended Daunte Wright’s life took place on a Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, the body camera of a police officer. The officers seemed to be trying to handcuff him; then he slipped back into the driver’s seat.

Once again, a black man died during a meeting with the police. In an instant, the world’s focus on Minnesota shifted from the trial of Derek Chauvin to a new outrage that led to street protests, promises of reform, and angst over a relentless pattern of deadly police misconduct.

Military vehicles roared through the city streets on Monday as companies hastily closed to comply with the government-ordered four-county 7:00 pm curfew. Tim Walz. Minnesota State Patrol Col. Matt Langer said 40 people were arrested Monday night during the Brooklyn Center protest. Several law enforcement officers sustained minor injuries as a result of throwing debris; no protest injuries were reported, he said.

Residents and community activists from Brooklyn Center, a suburb north of Minneapolis, are demanding justice for the Daunte Wright shooting.
