Brits “proud of you” praise Prince William’s call to tackle climate change on the BBC

In a clip posted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on social media, 39-year-old Prince William stressed how important it is for people to tackle climate change. “Our planet is in crisis now,” he said.

“Its delicately balanced systems are becoming increasingly unstable as the years go by.

“So for the sake of future generations, let’s act now.”

William added: “It is precisely for this reason that I have launched the Earthshot Prize, the most ambitious prize in history”.

The clip was warmly received by Brits who responded en masse to the @KensingtonRoyal Twitter account.

In the series, Prince William is joined by broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough, 95, as the couple explore how people can protect the environment and restore nature.

Each episode of the Duke series is dedicated to one of the five global problems identified by the Earthshot Prize.

These include: protecting and restoring nature; clean our air; revive our oceans; building a world without waste and adjusting our climate.

Prince William’s Earthshot Prize will award five people £ 1 million a year for the next decade.
