In 2017, we released Serial Cleaner Se. In this story-based action / stealth game, set in 1970s America, you play Bob C. Leaner, a crime scene cleaner who works for the mafia. In 2021, we’re back with an ambitious sequel set in 1990s New York, inspired by the iconic films of that era!
“That’s not how I remember it.”
New Year’s Eve, 1999. Bob and his cleaning colleagues meet in the back of a funeral home that serves as a front for their bloody affairs, to celebrate the past decade and remember the good old days. At first, their meeting serves as a nostalgic journey to the early 90s, to when they first met and took their first whimsical assignments. As the memories continue, strange inaccuracies continue to accumulate, revealing long-hidden truths that have hidden from each other.
Move without sound. Clean without emotions. It disappears without a trace.
In Serial cleaners, we greatly expand the ideas of the original game to free the player from his puzzle-like constraints. Whether you want to sneak or run through the level, drag the corpse around or tear it apart, we’ve got you covered! With a wide range of contextual interactions and more law enforcement involved, the game becomes much more open. And as the overall complexity increases, the heart of our original game – clearing the scene of corpses, blood and evidence – is still there and feels better than ever.
Four distinct cleaners mean four different perspectives and play styles. We have the brute strength of Psycho, the agility and awareness of Lati, the cutting-edge tech skills of Vip3r, all lulled by the good old tricks of Bob’s trade. Each mission is linked to one of the cleaners and reveals a piece of their turbulent history over the decade.
“I want my MTV”
Serial Cleaner Se was set in a time frame rarely explored in games: the 1970s. We have always been proud of the art, sound and atmosphere that conveyed the spirit of the decade. In the following, our style has evolved. We moved on to 3D in search of a look that suited our more mature tone of storytelling. We use the quirky style of the first game and infuse it with the vibe of ’90s cinema, from Tarantino’s classics to cult crime thrillers to favorite B-movie action films, remixing those familiar scenes in a unique version. of a decade full of brightly colored optimism … and the dirt underneath it all.
As for the music, we have this crude 90s punk nonconformity, the sound of many genres that defined the turn of the century. From East Coast hip hop to industrial metal and a sea of electronic music, from the Beastie Boys, and Wu-Tang Clan, via Orbital, Prodigy, ending with NIN and Ministry. It is our way of developing a fresh aesthetic and realizing a total vision of the 90s.
